The Cuddle Cup

Why paper templates work.
for everyone.

make one. then make ten.

Same shape.
Every. Single. Time.

Whether you're gifting a set or stocking your shelf — paper templates mean every piece comes out the same size and shape.

Because a mismatched set of mugs is a personality, but a matching one is a flex.

Find your perfect template

waste less, stress less

You'll know exactly what you're making before you touch the clay!

Cut the paper template first, lay it on your work surface, check the proportions — then roll out your slab.

You'll never over-roll a huge sheet of clay for a tiny little bowl again.

Plus: Every project comes with options and variations. Never not exciting! We even have free templates to test out!

About us

Femke's pottery journey started with a spinning wheel fantasy (think Molly and Sam…). Rosalia grew up building ceramics with her mum in Spain and knew better.

They met working together at advertising agency Frida von Fuchs, bonded over design, and ended up building a clay club together.

Rosalia brings the craft heritage. Femke brings the beginner's perspective. Between the two of them, they've figured out how to make slab building feel like something anyone can actually do.

No wheel.
No third grade art class vibe.
Just really good projects and a great time.

Get to know us a little better

Ok, so this is pottery…

No, you can simply take
a template, darling!

  • The husband Ben, 45, Germany

I was the guinea pig — could a total newbie with zero experience in any kind of craft actually pull off the candle tray? Turns out, yes.

It looks genuinely good and I had way more fun than I expected. I wasn't allowed to paint it in the end — went on a business trip and came back to find it already done. Built the tray and the candle holder though. Just try it.

  • Nancy, 49, USA

I'll be honest: I came in hot. Reached out to the team before the site was even live because I was convinced I'd made a purchase that never went through. I was frustrated and, looking back, not exactly my most gracious self. Femke and Rosalia were calm, kind, and sorted everything out even though it was not their fault at all.

They even let me try the Office Mug template on the house. Haven’t made it yet, but the project looks great. Beautiful work and a genuinely lovely team. Sorry, ladies for the mix-up!

  • Lize, 32, The Netherlands

Femke and I are family, so I am not the most objective beta tester. But I also have some pottery experience already, so I think my opinion can be helpful.

I worked through all the new projects and the oneI loved the most is the Cold Cup. What I like is that the lid comes in two versions — one for beginners, one intermediate — so you can actually grow with the project. That is not something you see often.

I am not an artist, so I apreciate that they show you exactly what you are making and how you will get the right results. Plus ideas for glazing. I loved that because that is the hardest part most of the time.

Burning Questions

Do I need any prior experience?

God no! Clay Slab Club was built for people who have zero to very little experience. (Hi, that was us once too!) Every project comes with a full video walkthrough — and if you want, you can even follow our color combos etc. We got zero ‘figure it out on your own’-moments — only if you want to!

What do I actually get when I buy a template?

A downloadable PDF with the paper template — it’s yours! But that's just the start. Every template comes with its own webpage where you'll find a full walkthrough video, step-by-step instructions, glaze or color combinations, and ideas for variations and finishing touches.

So you're never just getting a shape — you're getting the whole project!

What equipment do I need?

Way less than you’d think. We put together a free Home Tool Kit with a complete shopping list. Grab a few things from your kitchen drawers, pick up some cheap tools and clay from your local craft store or online, and you're good to go!

Do I need a kiln?

Nope! No kiln, no drama!

You can totally make really fancy decorative stuff with air dry clay. Just keep in mind that your pieces won't be fully waterproof or food safe though. If you want to make kitchen and tableware, a quick Google search for a local studio or ceramics shop will do the trick — they'll most likely have a firing service or know someone who does! Don’t be shy, they’ll love to have you!

Is this actually for me?

If you've made it this far down this page, something clicked!

Maybe it's the idea of making something beautiful with your own hands. Maybe it's the thought of a Sunday afternoon with some clay, a good playlist, and zero pressure. Maybe you just really want that perfect mug.

Whatever brought you here — we think you're exactly the kind of person this was made for!

Welcome, Friend ×

I've been doing pottery for years. Is this still for me?

Absolutely! Our templates are designed to take the prep work off your plate — so you can spend less time measuring and more time experimenting. You’ll make the templates your own: adjust the proportions, mix up the glazes, combine techniques. Think of it less as following instructions and more as having a really solid base to riff on.
